PCI-X PowerPC
The CoSine PCI-X PowerPC is one of two 400MHz, 600+ DMIPS embedded IBM®
405 processor hard wired in the Virtex-II Pro device.  It is the primary processor for controlling the PCI-X interface, associated PCI-X DMA engine, UPL block, and the UPL DMA.  It performs initialization of the PCI engine, configuring its speed, bus width, and host status.  It also responds to errors reported through interrupts from the PCI and UPL subsystems.

Along with command and control, servicing interrupts, and performing message passing, the PCI-X PowerPC can host drivers for peripheral PCI devices.  Additional resources can be allocated to running application software.

A Windriver® VxWorks™ v5.5 Board Support Package (BSP) for Tornado™ 2.2 is provided specifically for the PCI-X PowerPC, in addition to a separate BSP that is provided for the Serial RapidIO PowerPC.

Serial RapidIO PowerPC
The second CoSine PowerPC is the Serial RapidIO PowerPC, also a 400MHz, 600+ DMIPS embedded IBM 405 processor hard wired in the Virtex-II Pro device.  It supports the sRIOx4 interface and the associated DMA engine.  It also responds to errors reported through interrupts for the sRIOx4 subsystem.

As the PCI-X PowerPC is responsible for most command, control, and management functions, the Serial RapidIO PowerPC is free to execute operations or run applications.

A Windriver VxWorks v5.5 Board Support Package (BSP) for Tornado 2.2 is provided specifically for the Serial RapidIO PowerPC.
